Student Artwork and Talents Showcased at ARTFest

Hundreds Attend Washington ARTFest

On Friday, May 13th, our students showcased their artistic and musical talents at the annual Washington ArtFest. The student art gallery as well as interactive art stations, and a drum circle commenced at 4:00 p.m.  As the courtyard began to fill with families, Principal Ross Perry, welcomed the crowd and made opening remarks.  The kindergarteners opened the musical performances, followed by a fourth grade recorder performance.  First, second, third, and fifth grades sang numbers ranging from movie theme songs to American Top 40 tracks.  The musical part of the evening concluded with fifth grade and sixth grade band ensembles.

Throughout the evening, families visited the cafeteria to view students’ art work utilizing various mediums and representing diverse genres and time periods.  Further, many families expressed their artistic abilities that evening with clay and chalk art, and mural painting. This year our nutrition grant provided a fun veggie art booth, where students created artwork out of health foods.

A very special thank-you to the committee, parent volunteers, and Gabrielino Interact volunteers for making this wonderful event happen!
