5th Grade "American Revolution" Musical

Recently our 5th graders performed a musical about the American Revolution. Students sang songs that told the history of the American Revolution for an audience of parents and community members. Special thanks to the Assistance League of Arcadia for providing us with a grant to purchase the costumes!

ArtFest 2017

On Friday, April 21st, our students showcased their artistic and musical talents at the annual Washington ArtFest. Each grade level performed music on our outdoor stage and every student had artwork displayed on panels in the cafeteria. Walk-a-thon for the Arts

On April 14th all of our students participated in our PTA annual Walk-a-thon for the arts to raise money for our art program. All students walked or ran for 20 minutes and have been collected pledges and donations. If we raise $6,000 the top three pledge earners will get to throw pies in Mr. Perry's face.

LCAP Parent Survey

The State of California requires that school districts develop a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The LCAP is a critical part of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) which requires school districts to gather input from students, teachers, parents, community members, and public agencies to determine the goals, actions, and budget priorities for the district. SEF Summer Academy

Registration for the tuition-based SEF Summer Academy will begin on April 21st. Live Registration will take place the District Education Center on April 21st from 4-7pm. After live registration, applications will be accepted by mail or can be dropped off at the District Education Center. Registrations will not be accepted at individual school sites. Family Book Fair Night

On March 15th, Washington celebrated National Reading Month with our Family Book Fair Night. At the event we had scholastic book fair shopping, camp-themed arts and crafts and our Student Council performed a Green Eggs and Ham skit.

Founder's Day

On February 28th our PTA celebrated our wonderful volunteers at our annual Founder's Day. The Washington Boy Scout Troop led us off with the flag salute. Our 5th grade music appreciation choir sang and danced to two songs followed by our 4th grade recorders who performed four songs. After the student performances the PTA presented several of our staff members and parents with appreciation awards for their hard work and dedication to our students and programs.

Art Classes Begin!

Our new art teacher, Seda Sevada began art classes this week. Each class will receive five art lessons over the next two months that will incorporate art history, social studies and other subjects. For their first art lesson, the students drew self portraits that will be part of a large mural in our cafeteria hallway. Each student will have one piece displayed on panels in the cafeteria at our ArtFest on April 22nd. Thank you to our PTA and the San Gabriel Educational Foundation (SEF) for sponsoring this program.
