3rd Grade After School Coding

Washington’s after-school coding program is sponsored by CODE.ORG’s computer science curriculum for elementary students.  The course employs a blend of “unplugged” teacher facilitated activities where students learn computing concepts with or without a computer as well as online lessons composed mostly of self-guided tutorials that use programming instructions to practice algorithmic thinking.  After a series of unplugged lesson activities designed to teach students the meaning of algorithms and how to write them, students are now learning to write programs and understand the importance of sequence in writing their programs.
