When voters approved Measure SG in November 2024 with more than 66% support, they authorized $178 million in bonds to modernize classrooms and science labs, upgrade instructional technology, repair aging roofs and infrastructure, and enhance campus safety and security systems. The Bond Dollars at Work initiative was created to ensure the community can clearly see how that investment is progressing across the district.
The Bond Dollars at Work webpage serves as a central hub for updates as projects move from planning and design to implementation. Community members can follow developments connected to the district’s Long-Range Facilities Master Plan, including modernization efforts, infrastructure improvements, and campus-specific upgrades. Updates are posted regularly so families, staff, and residents can track how bond dollars are being put to work in support of student learning environments.
The initiative also reflects SGUSD’s commitment to accountability. Measure SG requires independent audits and citizen oversight to ensure bond funds are spent only on projects approved by voters. In accordance with California Education Code Sections 15278 and 15282, the district established a Bond Oversight Committee, an independent citizens advisory committee appointed by the Governing Board. The committee monitors the expenditure of bond funds and all of its proceedings are open to the public and noticed in the same manner as Governing Board meetings. Anyone interested in joining the committee is invited to complete the application at this link
Bond Dollars at Work also highlights student voice. The initiative’s logo was designed by SGUSD student Cheng Xin Weng, selected through a district design contest. The student-created logo symbolizes community investment in the future of local schools and reinforces that these improvements are ultimately about creating stronger opportunities for SGUSD students.
Through Bond Dollars at Work, the district is providing a clear, accessible window into Measure SG implementation and reaffirming its commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and high-quality learning environments for every student.
